Leadership Team

Scott Hammond
President and Chief Executive Officer

In his role as President and CEO, Scott Hammond brings seventeen years of industry experience to the company. Prior to newScale, Hammond was the founder, President and CEO of Digital Market, Inc. (DMI), the leading provider of Web-based sourcing and procurement solutions for direct materials. Hammond founded the company in 1995 by building the world's first Web-based trading exchange conducting over $1B worth of transactions between more than 1000 trading partners. He then productized the technology as an enterprise software solution for private exchanges targeted at Fortune 1000 manufacturing companies. In November of 1999, DMI merged with Agile Software (NASD:AGIL). Hammond then became a corporate officer and VP of e-Services and e-Procurement at Agile Software and was responsible for all direct materials sourcing and procurement solutions. While at Agile, he designed a next generation trading exchange for the electronics industry with Dell Computer, Cisco, Intel, Accel Partners and Gen3 Partners.

Hammond also pioneered yet another successful start-up, EcoSystems Software, where as a co-founder, he was instrumental in pioneering an integrated systems management software solution for open systems computing. In 1993, EcoSystems was acquired by Compuware Corporation (NASD:CPWR). His prior experience also includes industry leaders such as Xerox, Hewlett Packard, and Oracle Corporation.

As a well-respected industry speaker, Hammond has been invited to speak at such venues as VentureWire's Enterprise Outlook 2003, Morgan Stanley's 1999 Internet Commerce Symposium, Giga's Business Online97 Symposium, Giga's Business Online98 Symposium, International Oracle User's Week Conference (twice), UNIX Expo, the East Coast Oracle User's Group Conference and The 1998 Stanford Supply Chain Forum. Mr. Hammond was one of only 32 Industry CEOs selected to speak at the Spring 1999 Gartner Group IT Symposium/Dataquest Predicts event. Hammond was also chosen as one of "The Hot 25" top electronics industry executives by Electronic Buyers' News in 1996.

Hammond holds an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rochester and an MBA from The Wharton School of Business.

Rodrigo Fernando Flores
Founder and Chief Technology Officer

Rodrigo Flores is the founder and chief technology officer of newScale, Inc. At newScale he founded the service catalog industry by introducing the first products to design, model, catalog and order IT services. newScale is today recognized as the leader and pioneer in the service catalog and service portfolio with over 100 Global 2000 and more than 1.5 Million users in daily production. Rodrigo Fernando Flores brings 21years of experience in software and product development to newScale. Most recently he co-authored the book "Defining IT Success through the Service Catalog" and has led the development of a formal ITIL certification for catalog practitioners.

Rodrigo is also the chairman of the Service Portfolio and Catalog Language (SPACL) initiative, whose goal is to establish the first industry standard for service portfolio interchange. He also served as vice president of product management Action Technologies. Flores holds three patents on workflow technology, co-founded the Workflow Management Coalition and was its first vice chairman. He has also participated in a number of other industry standards initiatives such as the Open Document Management Association.

Flores received a bachelor's degree in management from St. Mary's College in Moraga, Calif.

Philip G. Connolly
Chief Financial Officer

Phil Connolly brings more than 20 years of finance and administration experience to the company. Prior to joining newScale, Connolly served as CFO of Novazone, Inc. a leading provider of innovative clean technology solutions. He also served as CFO at Real Clear Technologies, a Service Delivery Management software company and prior to that VP Finance and later CFO/COO at Sanrise, Inc., a information lifecycle management software and services company. He has held key executive positions at Republic Financial Corporation; Triton Container International Ltd. and the Cronos Group. Connolly started his business career as an Assistant VP with National Westminster Bank and prior to that served as an infantry officer in the United States Army.

Connolly holds a bachelor's of science degree in engineering from the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY.

Bill Fine
Vice President, Product Strategy

Bill Fine is responsible for product management, industry solutions, and product strategy at newScale. Fine joined newScale in 2001 and served as Vice President of Professional Services until 2004, working directly with leading Fortune 500 and Global 2000 corporations to help define their service delivery strategies, implement IT service management processes, and manage implementations of newScale software solutions. Prior to newScale, Fine was President and Chief Operating Officer of Business Design Associates, Inc. ("BDA"), a strategy, process design and systems integration consultancy, with operations throughout the Americas and Europe. During his 8 year tenure at BDA, Fine managed and participated directly in numerous large scale consulting engagements, including service delivery projects at companies such as General Motors, Citibank and Applied Materials. In late 2000, he orchestrated the successful sale of BDA.

Fine graduated from Cornell Law School, magna cum laude, and previously worked in the corporate law practice of Heller, Ehrman, White and McAuliffe. Fine also holds a BA degree in International Studies from the University of Washington.

Mark Hamilton
Vice President, Marketing

Mark Hamilton has more than 20 years experience marketing business-to-business computer software and hardware solutions in senior marketing-executive roles at Baan Company, Aurum Software, Siebel Systems, and Adobe/Frame Technology. Hamilton has been a key player in 3 successful IPOs as well as several acquisitions and mergers. Recently as Principal of QuickStart Marketing, Hamilton created a new marketing practice area for R.B. Webber, a $150 million venture fund and a strategic consulting firm. He helped start-up and established organizations, develop brand awareness, create market differentiation and quickly deploy the programs and tools required to drive rapid revenue growth.

Hamilton holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Denison University in Granville, Ohio.

Mark McKenzie
Vice President, Services

Mark McKenzie is a senior software executive with over 20 years experience leading professional services organizations. He has worked with hundreds of market-leading companies throughout North America, Latin America, and Europe in the delivery world class enterprise software solutions. Before joining newScale, McKenzie was Vice President of field operations for Real Clear Technologies. Previously, McKenzie served as Vice President of global services at SEVEN Networks, a wireless software company, and as Vice President in the Global Services Group of Commerce One. Prior to Commerce One, McKenzie held senior management positions with A.T. Kearney's Strategic Information Technology practice and Accenture's Systems Integration practice.

McKenzie holds a B.S.c. in Computing Science from Imperial College, University of London.

David Satterwhite
Sr. Vice President, Worldwide Sales

David Satterwhite has more than 20 years of business and enterprise software sales experience with companies such as @Road, Inc., NightFire Software, Oracle, Clarify and Nortel Networks as well as newScale, Inc. As Senior Vice President and head of worldwide sales, David has grown newScale revenues at a rate of more than 85 percent annually since 2003 - closing hundreds of deals at Fortune 500 companies and Global 2000 industry leaders.

At @Road he led an 80-person worldwide sales organization driving over $65 million in annual sales while signing strategic contracts with companies like Waste Management and Qwest Telecommunications. At NightFire Software he led worldwide field operations, including sales, professional services, customer support and customer training, growing the company from $9 million to $22 million in the first year. Prior to joining NightFire, Satterwhite was the Vice President of sales for Nortel Networks' Clarify Telecom Solutions Group where he led a 45-person sales team driving over $50 million in annual revenue with an average size deal of more than $1 million. He led the Nortel/Clarify integration team after Nortel Networks' announced its $2.9 billion acquisition of Clarify in 2000. Prior to the acquisition he held multiple management roles in sales and marketing while helping grow Clarify from $25 million to several $100 million. Satterwhite started his sales career at Oracle after spending two years as an auditor for Deloitte & Touche.

Satterwhite earned a Bachelor of Arts in history with a minor in business from the University of California, Berkeley.

Andrew Tahvildary
Vice President of Engineering

Andrew Tahvildary is an enterprise software veteran with more than 15 years of experience in software development management. Before joining newScale, Tahvildary was the vice president of product development for Primavera Systems, Inc., where he championed a new generation of products that helped establish Primavera as a leading enterprise-class project portfolio management (PPM) vendor. Tahvildary was previously director of engineering at Evolve Software, Inc., where he built a development team of 70+ from the ground up. His other experience includes senior development leadership roles at TCSI Corporation, a provider of network management solutions, and Sprint, a leading telecommunications company.

Tahvildary has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering, both from Syracuse University.
